National Safe Place Week
Family Connection Safe Place Coordinator, Laura Junkins, received a Proclamation from Mayor Gary Ivey designating March 16-22, 2014 as National Safe Place Week. Safe Place brings together businesses and volunteers to provide immediate help and safety to teens facing abuse, neglect, bullying or other crisis situations. Thanks to Mayor Ivey and the Hoover City Council for their support. Family Connection's Safe Place program began in Hoover in 1993.

Runaway and Homeless Youth
Family Connection is committed to protecting runaway and homeless youth and, whenever possible, reuniting them with their families. We provide young people the resources they need to get off the streets and stabilize their lives. Family Connection provides safe and appropriate short-term emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Other services include food, clothing, counseling, and referrals for health care.
TXT 4 HELP
TXT 4 HELP helps teens connect to the closest location where they can get immediate help and safety. If you are a young person under 18 years of age and need help, text SAFE and your current location (address/city/state) to 69866. You will receive a text back with the address of the nearest Safe Place site and contact number for Family Connection. You can respond to the text with "reply with 2CHAT for more help." Once you reply you'll be connected with a professional.
